Nicknamed the “Musky Capital of the World”, Boulder Junction is one of the state’s vacation hot spots. The town sports a population close to 950, which increases when the summer months roll around.
The Musky Capital of the World got it’s name for what might seem like obvious reasons. The Boulder Junction Area has 194 crystal clear lakes that are absolutely ideal for proper Muskie growth. The area has also been known to pull some of the largest Muskies in the state during the season. There are many guides in the area that can direct anglers on how to fish for the elusive Muskie and may even be able to help anglers catch one!
If trophy fishing wasn’t enough, there’s still plenty more to do in Boulder Junction. For the adventurous type, check out one of the local zip line tours. These tours will fly you high above the ground as you get to look down on Wisconsin’s wilderness. Others tours are available if you prefer to kayak on the Tomahawk River or ride an ATV along 16 miles of Wisconsin wilderness trails.
When you’re in the mood to eat and you’re looking for some good food, check out one of the many restaurants in Boulder Junction. The Aqualand Alehouse has 20 craft beers on tap and offers wood fired pizzas for lunch and dinner. If you’re feeling adventurous and want to drive out to get lunch, check out the Forest Lake County Store. The store offers a full menu and a vast selection of 150 craft beers and 200 boutique wines!
